Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements but it is expected that learners that will have significant experience of working at or towards middle management. A dedication to completing a higher level qualification. This will involve taking on a greater volume and level of study than the Advanced Apprenticeship or a level 3 qualification

What is a higher apprenticeship?


Higher apprenticeship programmes have been designed to train individuals to foundation and degree level, providing them with the knowledge and skills required to meet employers’ and business needs.

Higher apprenticeships are the next step up from advanced apprenticeships and are nationally accredited work-based programmes. This allows employers to invest into their own organisation’s talent and increase productivity and profitability through a highly qualified and skilled workforce.


Who is this qualification for?


This qualification is designed for project managers, department heads and other practicing middle managers. This will develop skills and experience, improve performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities.

The Higher Leadership and Management apprenticeship helps managers provide effective leadership and direction in their area of responsibility, plan and develop operational changes and contribute towards problem solving and decision making.

  • Understand core management techniques in order to drive better results for the business.
  • Develop an individual’s ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team.
  • Provide and deliver strategic leadership methods as well as day-to-day management techniques which can be implemented into the business.
  • Be able to benchmark an individual managerial skills.

Your employee will require technical knowledge and will show competence through complex work activities.  Assessments are conducted in the workplace through observation of the duties carried out and a range of other methods; including witness statements, professional discussions and reflective accounts.  To fulfil the requirements of the course your employee will also be required to undertake research and written tasks in their own time.
