Entry Requirements This apprenticeship is open to those working in HR without a recognised qualification. Prior qualifications may include: CIPD Level 3, An Advanced Apprenticeship, A Levels or equivalent, a Level 3 Foundation Certificate or Diploma in HR Practice, as well as GCSE English grade A-C and GCSE Maths grade A-C or equivalent. A dedication to completing a higher level qualification. This will involve taking on a greater volume and level of study than the Advanced Apprenticeship or a level 3 qualification
Progression Undergraduate and post graduate degrees in HR Management or Business related area. CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management.

What is a higher apprenticeship?

 

Higher apprenticeship programmes have been designed to train individuals to foundation and degree level, providing them with the knowledge and skills required to meet employers’ and business needs.

Higher apprenticeships are the next step up from advanced apprenticeships and are nationally accredited work-based programmes. This allows employers to invest into their own organisation’s talent and increase productivity and profitability through a highly qualified and skilled workforce.

 

Who is this qualification for?

 

The Higher Apprenticeship in Human Resource Management incorporates a Level 5 qualification which is the equivalent level to a second year of university and provides individuals with the comprehensive understanding of the HR function along with the practical experience of working in the HR environment

The framework has been developed by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) to specifically develop high performing HR professionals who understand how to use HR practices to meet organisational needs and add value to a business. It will also help employers recruit ambitious individuals who want to further develop their career in a business related profession.

 

Objectives of learning:

 

  • Develop professional practice and perform effectively and efficiently and as a self-managing HR professional. Be a collaborative member of working groups and teams and add value as a contributor to the organisation.
  • Understand the purpose and key objectives of the HR function in organisations including how HR objectives are delivered and achieved, how the HR function is evaluated and the role of ethics and professionalism in HR.
  • How to use information in human resources including identifying and scrutinising appropriate HR data sources, enabling individuals to conduct small scale research and analyse the findings, drawing meaningful conclusions and evaluating options for change.
  • Understand the business context of reward and the use of reward intelligence including key reward principles, policies and practices and the role of the managers in promoting a performance culture in reward decision-making and driving sustained organisation performance.
  • Be able to undertake core talent planning activities, know how to maximise employee retention and how to contribute to the development of resourcing strategies.
  • Understand the development and purpose of employment law, ensuring fair and lawful treatment at work as well as managing issues relating to pay and working hours, performance, disciplinary matters, reorganisation and change.
