Employer Description Nutters Restaurant are delighted to announce the purchase of our first pub venture the former “Bird it’h Hand” pub at Birtle. To be rebranded 'The Bird at Birtle', and due to open May 2016 after significant upgrading, the pub will create no less than thirty new jobs. Our aim is to keep the character of the building, but of course add that 'Nutter Twist'. Andrew and his team plan to serve up great hearty traditional pub food at reasonable prices, using the very best of local and regional produce.
Salary No experience: £5.00 per hour £200.00 per week. Experience: £6.00 per hour £240.00 per week Hours Of Work 40 hrs flexibility and shifts Hours to be agreed approx 40 per week, but will include weekend work with time off in the week.

Qualification Apprentice Professional Chef Level 2/3 plus Functional Skills if required Day release for Functional Skills if required

Vacancy Description

An exciting opportunity to join a new venture by award winning Chef Andrew Nutter which will compliment his already renowned Nutters restaurant at Norden. This is a state of the art Gastro pub that will allow the right person to grow within the company.  It requires someone with passion for food, motivation, stamina and enthusiasm to join the team.


Role and Responsibilities

  • To assist chefs to prepare food, as well as cook food from scratch.
  • Ensure a high level of hygiene at all times
  • Maintain and keep the kitchen clean and tidy.
  • Washing and drying kitchen utensils/pots and ensuring their proper storage
  • Cooking from scratch with fresh produce
  • All aspects of kitchen work
  • Cleaning
  • Hours to be agreed approx 40 per week, but will include weekend work with time off in the week.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

GCSE grades A-C in English and Maths (or equivalent) or working towards


Preferred Skills

A Catering qualification would be useful but not essential

A Food Hygiene qualification would also be preferred, but not essential


Personal Qualities

  • Must be reliable, and definitely a good timekeeper
  • Must have a passion for cooking and be creative
  • You must be willing to learn in what can often be a pressurised kitchen
