Salary £123.75 per week Hours Of Work 37.5 hrs per week, Mon – Fri am shift 6.00am - 13.45pm pm shift 13.45pm – 20.45pm (1-hour lunch break) Must be flexible on shifts
Position Type Apprenticeship Age Range 18+
Qualification Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 in Warehousing plus Functional Skills if required. College Tutor will visit site to provide support. Full time on site learning on the job.

Vacancy Description

Starting September 2016 – August 2017 (12-month Apprenticeship)

We are currently searching for 2 Apprentices to work within our Distribution Centre in Bury performing Warehouse functions.  Our goal is simple: to offer you valuable professional experience and training to help you get a better idea of who we are and what we do.


How does the Apprenticeship work?

Our Apprenticeship scheme will offer you the chance to work within real live job roles, starting with our returns area and as your skills and knowledge grow, work up to a Junior Warehouse Assistant and hopefully a Warehouse Assistant within our Order Preparation team.  You will study your NVQ level 2 in Warehousing in partnership with Bury College.  This apprenticeship will allow you to focus on particular disciplines within the DC whilst gaining an insight into our overall business. You can expect to make a real contribution to the day-to-day operations of your team.


Role and Responsibilities

Goods in & Returns Assistant – You will be a skilled member of the team responsible for receiving goods into site and for re-working products to specific requirements

  • Efficient labelling of all products
  • Re-boxing of products in order to re-sell
  • Sorting returned products into bags and boxes as required
  • Quality control


Junior Warehouse Assistant– You will be a skilled member of the team responsible for preparing orders for despatch in accordance with the Customer Requirement

  • To pick and prepare orders for despatch to the customer
  • Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately
  • Chase up any queries with your line managers and then take the appropriate action
  • Understand each customer individual requirements
  • Ensure high quality products are received by the customer in line with the schedule


Warehouse Assistant – You will be a multi skilled member of the team responsible for preparing orders for despatch in accordance with Customer requirements

  • Ensure that you are flexible in the warehouse and undertake any task for which you have been trained. 
  • The safe use of relevant trucks (training provided)


Qualifications and Education Requirements

5 GCSE’s grade A-C including Maths and English (or equivalent)

  • Have an interest in Supply Chain and Distribution with a willingness to learn new things
  • A flexible approach to working hours and all tasks
  • Attention to detail and high quality standards
  • A can-do positive attitude with an ability to carry out tasks quickly, safely and accurately
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work as a team player
  • Ability to adapt to change and work under pressure and in a fast moving environment

Future Prospects

Dependent on role availability and apprentice performance it is possible for our Apprentices to progress to full time employment.
