Employer Description A busy, friendly ‘Before and After-School Club’ based in a Whitefield Primary School offering flexible, home from home Childcare in a caring environment.
Salary £3.70 per hour / £69.38 per week Hours Of Work 18.75 per week / shifts 7:45am-9:00am and 3:30pm-6:00pm, Mon to Fri
Position Type Apprenticeship Age Range 16+
Qualification Playwork Level 2 plus Functional Skills if required. This is a work-based qualification although some College attendance may be required for Functional Skills.

Vacancy Description

Do you enjoy working with children and want to progress with it further? We have two new Apprenticeship positions in our caring Before and After School Club. You will receive a high standard of training and experience and will be supported by experienced Bury College staff.

Role and Responsibilities

You will be working in the Before and After School Club and trained to a high standard in all duties required of you involving keeping the children safe and enhancing their learning and play. You will be supported throughout your training and treated as a valuable member of staff. This will include:

  • Help children to develop through play
  • Take part in play activities with the children
  • Build positive relationships with children
  • Promote positive behaviour and discourage unwanted actions
  • Maintain child safety
  • Take part in indoor/outdoor activities
  • Help to maintain a healthy balanced diet for the children
  • Carry out cleaning duties as required
  • Liaise with parents and carers
  • Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed
  • Undertake training as appropriate to meet any changes in standards or legal requirements
  • You will be required to work shifts between 7:45am-9:00am plus 3.30pm-6:00pm 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • GCSE grade A-Cs/4-9 in English (or equivalent) essential
  • Maths A-C/4-9 is preferred but not essential 

Preferred Skills

  • Must be genuinely interested in Childcare
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team

Personal Qualities

  • You must be a caring person who genuinely wants to work with children
  • You will have to provide the employer with two references and pass a DBS check (this will be paid for by school for the successful two candidates)

Future Prospects

This vacancy is for the contract to do your Apprenticeship. There may be progression onto a Level 3 or a permanent contract subject to a successful completion of the Apprenticeship.
