Employer Description We are a two-form entry primary school situated in Whitefield with 440 pupils on role. The school has a good reputation within the locality and is regularly over-subscribed.
Salary £136.90 per week Hours Of Work 37 hours per week, term time only. Mon to Thur 8:15am-4:10pm, Fri 8:15am-4.05pm. 30 mins lunch break daily
Position Type Apprenticeship Age Range 16+
Qualification Level 2 Business and Administration plus Functional Skills if required This is a work-based qualification although some college attendance may be required for Functional Skills.

Vacancy Description

An enthusiastic and hardworking person is needed for an apprentice administration/support assistant role.  Under the direction/instruction of the Office Manager, the successful candidate will provide routine general clerical and administrative support to the school.  You will be developed and supported throughout your training and treated as a valuable member of staff.

 

Role and Responsibilities

Duties:

  • Dealing with student/parental enquiries
  • Signing in parents/visitors taking into account all safeguarding measures
  • General telephone enquiries
  • Receiving deliveries for school/departments
  • Post: distribution of incoming mail and emails
  • Post: frank/log outgoing mail
  • Provide administrative support to the school using various IT applications (e.g. Word, Excel, internet and PowerPoint)
  • Collate information using office equipment i.e. photocopiers, printers, telephone calls
  • Assist with reprographics and school displays when necessary
  • Access the school’s database to obtain or update data
  • Assist with the organisation of meetings/in-house events, which may include providing hospitality

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentially and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work of the school
  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
  • Participate in training, other learning activities and performance development as required
  • Any other reasonable duties as the Office Manager may designate from time to time

 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·         A-C/4+ Maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent) is preferred

·         An IT qualification would be useful but not essential

·         You must be IT literate and able to use a variety of Microsoft Software, including Word and Excel

·         You must have the ability to communicate well and have a good telephone manner

·         You need the ability to continually develop and extend own working practice

·         You must be able to work effectively within a team environment

·         Build and maintain effective working relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues

·         You must be numerate and literate

·         Attention to detail with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

·         Good organisational skills
