Employer Description Our practice provides a wide range of NHS Dentistry services catering for the whole family, including diagnostic and screening procedures, surgical procedures and the treatment of disease, dental disorders and injuries. Stretford Mall is on a main bus route and is also easily accessible by tram and car, with plenty of parking on site.
Salary £4.00 per hour, £160.00 per week, Mon, Tues & Thurs : 9am - 6pm, Wednesday : 8.30am - 5.30pm, Friday : 8.30am - 5pm Hours Of Work 40 hours
Position Type Apprenticeship Age Range 16+
Qualification Dental Nursing Standard Level 3 plus Functional Skills if required. This is a work-based qualification with College attendance on Wednesdays from 3.00pm – 6.30pm. College attendance may also be required for Functional Skills.

Vacancy Description

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic person to train as an Apprentice at our busy practice in Stretford, South Manchester, with a view to a permanent position on successful completion of the course.


Role and Responsibilities

As a Dental Nurse you will be an essential part of the team assisting the Dentist in their duties. These will include:

  • Assisting in the surgery – passing instruments, mixing materials, preparing the surgery for treatment, and decontaminating afterwards.
  • Decontamination and sterilisation – cleaning used instruments and processing them through sterilisation, then packing them ready for use.
  • Radiography – assisting the Dentist to take radiographs and developing radiographs.
  • Administration – filing of patients’ notes, completing required forms, taking information from patients.
  • Reception – answering phone calls and dealing face to face with patients, answering their queries, making appointments and taking payments.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • GCSE grade C/4 or above in English/Maths is desirable but not essential.
  • You must know what is required of the course and be able to pass the required exams.
  • Committed to completing the course with us.
  • A good standard of written and spoken English.

  • Able to work as part of a team but also willing to take the initiative.
  • Customer focused and keen to work face to face with patients.
  • Good organisational skills, accurate in your work and able to work with confidential information.
  • Punctual, trustworthy and flexible in your approach to the role.

Future Prospects

If successful in your Apprenticeship, you can expect to be offered a permanent position with us.
