Position Type Appprenticeship Age Range 16+
Qualification Hospitality Commis Chef Level 2 Standard plus Functional Skills if required. this is a worked-based qualification although some college attendance may be required for Functional Skills

Vacancy Description

A fantastic opportunity to join an outstanding local college in Bury. To assist in the kitchen/stores area in a way which ensures clean and hygienic conditions in order that Health and Safety food requirements are adhered to within these areas.
 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Cleaning all kitchen equipment, tables and sinks, maintaining hygienic conditions in the kitchen/stores.
  • Collect tea towels and dishcloths for washing and replace with clean supplies.
  • To operate the automatic dishwasher when required.
  • Record and check food deliveries for quality, quantity and temperature against stores orders.
  • Prepare food trolleys from stores food orders on a daily basis.
  • Deal with spontaneous stores request from students/lecturers.
  • Be flexible within the college technical support team.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A good general standard of education including Maths and English is essential
  • Willingness to work towards Level 2 Facilities Services is essential
 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience of working and cleaning in a large kitchen environment is essential.
  • Experience of making up food trolleys is desirable.
  • Experience of storing foodstuff in fridges and freezers at the correct temperature and position is essential.
  • Experience of working with cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels is essential.
  • Ability to assess work place requirements and act in an appropriate way is essential.
  • Ability to prepare food orders from stores orders is desirable.
 

Personal Qualities

  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Possess an effective personality in order to establish a good working relationship with staff and students.
 
 
 

Future Prospects

This apprenticeship is for a 16 month fixed term contract
